We have a simple dream… to support development in West Oxfordshire that stems from local community desires and supported schemes, and reaches out to local developers who can work within Parish and Town Council vision, whilst meeting their own commercial objectives. Too often it seems to flow the opposite direction when profit-driven projects work their way towards local impact. Then, concessions are made only where they must be made to get approval.
Instead, imagine developers that agree with local wishes and help to make them happen, as long as their commercial objectives can be reasonably achieved. We love Oxfordshire and any project we progress has that in mind.
West Oxfordshire is a stunning and historically rich district with a wealth of natural beauty, heritage, and attractions that make it a special place. We believe property development is about more than just bricks and mortar—it’s about respecting the heritage, preserving the beauty, and enhancing the character of the places we work in. West Oxfordshire is a place to cherish. From its rolling landscapes to its historic market towns, here’s why we love West Oxfordshire and why responsible development matters.
West Oxfordshire is home to some of England’s most stunning scenery. Large parts of the district fall within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), where rolling hills, lush meadows, and picturesque villages create an idyllic countryside setting. The Wychwood Forest, once a royal hunting ground, is now a conservation area, offering woodland walks and a deep sense of history. Meanwhile, the Windrush Valley and the River Thames provide stunning backdrops for outdoor activities like walking, boating, and wildlife watching. Green spaces are a key focus of many local communities, and developments that respect and enhance these natural assets are essential to maintaining West Oxfordshire’s rural charm.
Few places can rival the historical richness of West Oxfordshire’s towns and villages. Woodstock is best known for Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the birthplace of Winston Churchill. Burford, often called the “Gateway to the Cotswolds,” boasts a medieval high street and stunning countryside views. Chipping Norton, Charlbury, and Eynsham are all steeped in history, with thriving local communities that care deeply about preserving their unique character. The blend of heritage, community spirit, and charming architecture makes these places incredibly desirable, whether you’re looking to live, work, or invest.
West Oxfordshire is known for its Cotswold stone buildings, a defining feature of the region’s architectural identity. Many towns and villages have conservation areas to protect their historic charm, and local planning policies support sustainable, sympathetic development. The district is home to numerous listed buildings, from medieval churches to centuries-old farmhouses, each telling a story of the area’s past. Thoughtful renovations and conversions that preserve original features while enhancing modern functionality are an excellent way to develop properties that blend seamlessly into their surroundings.
One of the reasons people fall in love with West Oxfordshire is the strength of its communities. Many villages and towns have their own Neighbourhood Plans, designed to ensure new developments align with local priorities. There’s a strong focus on green spaces, community infrastructure, and sustainability. Events like local markets, festivals, and arts initiatives bring people together and make the district a fantastic place to live. Developers who engage with local residents, respect their concerns, and contribute positively to these communities will always be more successful.
West Oxfordshire is not just about preserving the past—it’s about building for the future in a way that respects the environment and local character. Many areas actively encourage eco-friendly housing, green infrastructure, and low-impact development. Neighbourhood Plans in towns like Charlbury, South Leigh, and Milton-under-Wychwood emphasize small-scale, well-integrated projects rather than large-scale urban sprawl. Developers who prioritize sustainability, biodiversity, and energy-efficient homes will find strong local support and a growing demand for properties that align with these values.
Despite its rural charm, West Oxfordshire is well-connected. The district is ideally located for commuters, with direct transport links to Oxford and London. Train stations in Charlbury and Hanborough provide easy access to key destinations, while good road links make it convenient for professionals and families alike. Walking and cycling routes are a priority for many communities, with investments in sustainable transport helping to reduce congestion and encourage eco-friendly travel.
West Oxfordshire is growing in a way that balances development with heritage and sustainability. Strategic Development Areas (SDAs) in places like Eynsham, Woodstock, and Chipping Norton offer opportunities for well-planned, community-led expansion. The district’s strong economy, thriving tourism sector (thanks in part to Blenheim Palace), and investment in green initiatives make it an attractive place to invest. While large-scale developments are carefully controlled, there is huge potential in infill projects, barn conversions, and small-scale housing schemes that meet local demand without overwhelming the character of an area.
